THE IMPORTANCE OF the Six Sigma Certification is that it shows the competencies of an individual in a particular or specific subject. All in all, the Six Sigma Certification is used to evaluate and recognize proficiency in the subject, to increase one’s desirability to employers, and to ultimately increase one’s salary. The term “Six Sigma” is a trademark of Motorola Corporation, where the system began in the 1970’s. Six Sigma centers on the concept of perfect production or management without flaws. The Six Sigma standard is 3.4 defects per million or 99.99966% flawless production, an extraordinarily admirable achievement.  

The display of one’s proficiency is a must and that is why many companies and employers demand it be shown that a person has undergone the correct training in respect to what the company deals in and the level in which that person has reached. In this tough economy, we typically don’t feel good when we lounge around the house doing menial jobs when, and if, they come by. That is why there are certification programs in which one can enroll in order to further build their reputation and credibility in their industry. The Six Sigma Certification is so important in certain industries that many companies look to it as the compass that will show how competent a person is and whether the person can be trusted. When all applications look the same, it can be the deciding factor as to whether or not you will get the job over the next guy.

When one earns the Six Sigma Certification, it is ideally for professional reasons as one is able to increase the salary they command by slowly advancing in the company and meeting all the required credentials. There are levels to the Six Sigma certification that include the black belt, green belt, and yellow belt. All of the above levels are important in the day-to-day running of an office or organization.

The black belt is usually the team leader of the organization. This means that the person has a deeper understanding of what it entails to be in the job and he or she has enough experience to handle any job issued with little to no error. This is a person who knows how to be supportive, who is capable, team-oriented, inspires others, and is highly motivated.

Another class, the green belt, usually works under the black belts, meaning that they take their orders from the team leaders. This means that they are also highly motivated and are critical and can notice that something is wrong somewhere in an already highly efficient operation and can rectify the problem. The employees who fall under this class are the process experts and the data specialists. The last class, the yellow belt, is the backbone of the organization; the staff and the administrators. They are the ones who help the teams meet their objectives and ensure that the office functions properly.

The importance of the Six Sigma certification in most organizations simply means that they want to strive for perfection. This is the case when one is entering data, manufacturing large quantities of products, or leading a team within an organization.
